My hero was a legend of a whole generation. That is the reason why he is MY HERO.
His name is Kurt Donald Cobain and he was the leader of the grunge band Nirvana, that redefined the sound of the nineties.

Kurt was born on the 20th of February in year 1967 in Hoquaim, a small town 140 kilometers south-west of Seattle. His mother was a cocktail-waitress and his father was an auto mechanic.

Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, with the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990.

With the lead single “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from their 1991 album Nevermind, Nirvana entered into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. Other Seattle grunge bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden also gained popularity, and, as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-middle 1990s. Nirvana is one of the most popular bands of all time, on one side because they were a prodigy band during the early 90’s and on the other side because of tragic death of their singer and front man Kurt Cobain. After his death Nirvana became even more popular, their albums sold all over the world like crazy.

David Eric Grohl born on January 14, 1969 in Warren, drummer Ohio.Fue Nirvana from 1990 to the disappearance of the band in 1994 after the death of Kurt Cobain. When Grohl I was a child, his family moved from Ohio to Alexendria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC. 3 years later, his parents divorced, and Grohl grew up with her mother.

When Kurt was six months the family moved to Aberdeen, a town of loggers near the village of Hoquiam, whose population exceeds 20,000. Born three years after Kurt’s only sister, Kim Cobain. Aberdeen has the dubious honor of being one of the cities with the highest suicide rate in the United States, 27 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, twice the national average. The high rate of unemployment, alcoholism, drug addiction and domestic violence help complete the picture.
